Public ConversatioN Series

The Urban Studies Program is committed to fostering civic dialogue about vital challenges and opportunities facing cities in general and Philadelphia in particular. Since 2001, Urban Studies has organized series of “public conversations” on some of the most current and critical issues facing the city and region.

These public conversation series further Urban Studies educational mission by bringing students and faculty together with civic leaders and community groups from around the region; opening up classes with guest speakers to broader audiences across the University and beyond; engaging students, faculty, and guests in dialogue on critical civic issues; and, in some cases, linking student research and workshop projects to groups and issues encountered in the series.
